![]() ![]() It’s an undeniably cute story and genuine because of the fact that Matthew Gray Gubler is a Rumple Buttercup, just like myself. Gubler’s own personality reflects upon the pages of Rumple Buttercup, and quite literally as he hand wrote and illustrated everything from the copyright page to the numbers of the barcode on the back of the book. It’s a story for those who find themselves to be a bit weird, or unable to fit in but have a desire to find their place in the world. ![]() Yes, it is a children’s book but I think it truly is a story for all the Rumples everywhere, as Matthew Gray Gubler himself said so on the dedication page. It celebrates individuality and stands as a reminder that as long as you remain true to yourself, you will find your community and a sense of belonging in this universe. This story is quirky just like its author and the message of self-acceptance and belonging shines through visibly. His only companion is Candy Corn Carl, his imaginary friend made of trash who Rumple Buttercup turns to as his form of comfort. Rumple Buttercup: A Story of Bananas, Belonging, and Being Yourself is about a monster who’s a little odd-looking and hides away from everyone and everything because he’s afraid of being ostracized for being “weird”. As I made my way through the rabbit hole of learning about Matthew Gray Gubler, I decided I should check out his book, Rumple Buttercup: A Story of Bananas, Belonging, and Being Yourself because I mean, come on…I’m a reader! So, I did and I’m glad because it was honestly so great. I’ve never fit in much myself so I totally resonated with his entire energy and brand. I did a deep dive into his filmography and of course, his social media platforms and I just loved how weird, yet himself he was. It’s now one of my favorite shows and I discovered that I love Matthew Gray Gubler? I had no idea this man existed until 2020 and I am actually upset I only now discovered this magical human being. I started watching Criminal Minds earlier this year and I became so obsessed with the show that I ended up binging the majority of the seasons within a month. ![]()
